What we collect
Almost nothing. This is a static site with no accounts, no ad trackers, and no analytics cookies of our own.
- The Suggestion Box: when you submit an idea we store the suggestion text, the category you picked, and your email only if you choose to leave one (used solely to follow up about your idea). To keep spam out we also store a short, one-way hash derived from your connection for the day; it cannot be turned back into your address and expires from usefulness within a day.
- Server logs: our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data to serve and protect the site.
The Reading Room
Posting in the Reading Room needs no account and no email. When you post we store:
- Your pen name, and a one-way hash of your pen name plus your secret word. The hash is what lets you keep your pen name; we cannot recover the secret from it, and neither can anyone else.
- The posts you write.
- The same short-lived daily connection hash described above, used only for abuse prevention. It cannot be turned back into your address and goes stale within a day.
Want a post or a pen name deleted? Ask through the Suggestion Box, or file a report on your own post and say it is a deletion request.
Affiliate links
Book and trial links go to Amazon with our affiliate tag. If you buy or start a trial through them, Amazon pays us a commission at no extra cost to you; Amazon sets its own cookies on its own site under its own privacy policy. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
What we never do
- No selling or sharing your data.
- No email marketing without your explicit signup.
- No third-party ad networks.
Removal
Want a suggestion you submitted deleted, email and all? Ask through the Suggestion Box and mention it is a deletion request, and it will be removed.
